MediFlow Hospital’s smart forecasting spots stock-out risks and batches likely to expire in advance. It builds on data from the Stock module and is available today.
Status as of 7 November 2026: available, with the Stock module.
What forecasting does
| Forecast | What it is for |
|---|---|
| Stock-out forecast | Spot products likely to run out in advance, so you can order in time. |
| Expiry forecast | Spot batches likely to expire in stock in advance, so you can act before the loss. |
The reasoning, with an example
A forecast compares what is in stock with what will be used.
Fictitious example: a batch of 300 bottles of syrup expires in two months, and the ward uses about 100 a month. At the current rate, around a hundred bottles are likely to expire. This is the time to use them first, transfer them to another ward or talk to the supplier.
The data it needs
Forecasts build on the data recorded in the Stock module: stock movements, inventories, batches and expiry dates.
The more complete and up to date this data is, the more useful the forecasts.
The limits of a forecast
- It depends on the data. An unrecorded dispatch or an old inventory skews the calculation.
- It starts from the past. An epidemic, a delivery delay or a supplier stock-out does not show in consumption history.
- It does not decide. It flags a risk; ordering, transferring or returning stock remain your pharmacist’s decisions.
