Why link attendance to the roster
An attendance sheet on its own tells you who came. Compared with the roster, it also shows who is missing, who is late and which shift is not covered.
Fictitious example: the roster plans three nurses on the maternity night shift, and two are recorded as present. The comparison shows that one post is not covered, so the nurse manager can arrange a replacement before handover.
